Peter Neijens

Professor Emeritus, University of Amsterdam

Peter Neijens is a distinguished academic in the Social Sciences. He graduated cum laude in Political Science from the University of Amsterdam and obtained a PhD in Social Sciences from the VU Amsterdam. His extensive career includes roles as a Professor and Chair in Media and Persuasion at the University of Amsterdam, director of the Amsterdam School of Communication Research ASCoR, director of the Graduate School of Communication, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Public Opinion Research, and President of the European Advertising Academy. He was director of SWOCC, and deputy director of the Dutch Press Institute. Peter served on numerous editorial and advisory boards at national and international level. He has published extensively in national and international journals and books, and supervised a great many of PhD candidates. He was a visiting professor at universities abroad including the University of Michigan.
